Folks, we're approaching that time, when we're going to see the annual "Begging your way to the Playa" festival. Much liek George Carlins take on God, so goes my take on Burning Man.
See, there this guy, and his name is Larry. Larry doesn't have a job. His job is to sit around and get $500/ea for a party he throws on Gov't land in which 99% of the staff are volunteers. About 15 people are on payroll. The rest are in servitude for a free ticket. The peopel who show up and make Burning Turd what it is, also need money, to Give to larry, so they can perform for free for him.
Oh sure, you're going to hear from DWP all about how they drive tent stakes in teh ground and supply people with generators and fill them with fuel. Sure. And what's teh carbon foot print left being? Worse than all of the cars, planes and rocket ships for an entire year. So much for nature!
So, just how far shall we ridicule them this year?
Let's also not forget the man, who brought the FINAL bit of renegade expression to Burning man, who is still sitting in Prison, thanks to Larry and his pals: Mr Paul Addis

If a hippy does all their grocery shopping at Whole Foods (especially here in LA), they're not going to make rent this month. Seriously.
Burning Man = Whole Foods
If you realize that it's expensive but it's fun to go once in a while, you're okay. Or if you have the money to & don't care about projecting some kind of fake hippy-artist image, that's fine.
But if you go on a regular basis believing it's some earth shattering, world view changing, amazing experience & is worth every penny ("No, they're not really there to take whatever money I'll give them!"), you have clearly been doing too many designer drugs. -

Tue, June 16, 2009 - 4:09 PMWhole foods like any trendy place has some good quality and pricing if you know what to look for. I don't think you can find better choice cuts of meat unless you find a butcher that raises his own cattle with his shop on his property.
However, with other things, it's always baffled me how you can have something that's of a cleaner nature, with no added chemicals, costing 3x as much as things that require 10x the processing.
Sure, I understand about "the little guy" but you would think that big names could go ""hey, peopel want this organic stuff, and it's less work for us to grow on our 5000 acres" and put'em all out of business.
Hell, Hagen Daas has only 5-8 ingredients and is hella expensive, vs the crappy dryers mass produced shit with chems and gums. Gum? In my choclate? Awww man...
However, you bring up exactly what we're talking about though. BM is called charging an arm and a leg what you get for next to nothing.
