For those just tuning in.. allow me to present the bare facts

Everyone must have a ticket to go to burning man. These cost near enough to $400 this year.
All people bringing in art, must have a ticket
Everyone in a camp must have a ticket
All performers must have a ticket
Camps have to pay to be there.

All year camps have fund raisers to pay for the privilege of giving Larry Harvey money in order to attract people to give him money.

Everyone that "works at Burning man must have a ticket. A few are "given" a ticket in exchange for being out there for a month doing full set up and tear down for $0 payment.

A VERY select few of the BoD for the org are "on the payroll" receiving annual salaries with full benefits.

In addition to all of the above-

BM.org owns everything relating to, or involved with burning man. Any art present, they own. All video, pictures, presentations, they own. All artists give away their intellectual property AND have to buy a ticket.

Burning man through it's art grants give back about .001% of the money generated by burning man, back into the arts. They give back less than $1 per ticket sold, and only given to select people who meet insane requirements, and have already put out 10x the amount of money they might get in return for their art.

Burning man is a corporation who's sole purpose is to generate revenue.

Burning man has more corporate sponsors throwing money at them this year than any other year. Yes, on top of all teh other money, BM is backed by corporate money.

You can spend a week in at Disneyworld, all expenses paid for less money than it costs to go to burning man for a week.
